1997 Infiniti QX4 Question: shift out of park

Question

I have never had this problem getting the shifter out of park. My foot is on the brake I've tried moving it around every which way. Is this a major problem or just something minor.

There is a switch on the brake pedal arm that turns on and off the brake lights. This will also release the shifter interlock. If the switch does not work due to a fault with it or its wiring, you will not be able to get out of park.

Check to see if your brake lights are working. If not, this is the area of the problem. Good luck.

mine sticks too. the dealer said to push the brake a few times and it should release. so far it works...they have sections in the manual dedicated to how to fix this problem with no reason why.
