Check if the brake lights are working. If they don't work check the fuse for the brake light circuit, if it's OK, there is a possible brake light switch problem. The shift interlock needs to see a pressed brake pedal signal, otherwise won't release the interlock.

i hope that this person understood what you were trying to say. The actuator that allows the transmission to come out of park, is directly connected to the brake pedal. Usually this was accomplished by an electric plunger type assembly, and these sometime would stick in the last position. In some model cars, it is a totally electric type switch, with a contact either needed to be made or broken, by the use of the brake pedal. You are on target by checking the brake lights because that will allow you to see if that type of contact is functioning.

You need to take off the tires and grease the wheel bearings. It will make it better to push. Good luck!
