1999 Jeep Wrangler Question: shaking
You really need to check the steering suspension and tires. A shaking at 50 mph and over without touching the brakes would be tire imbalance, if it happens under braking only the brake rotors may be "out of true" and need to be surfaced or replaced, it could be due to worn suspension bushings, wheel bearing play or likely if it when you hit a bump the steering damper. - patrick mannion
I had the same problem with my 2005 wrangler. It was the steering stabilizer ends. (both were gone). - jackmcg
Whenever I hit a bump the jump shakes so bad I have to pull over to gain control of the vehicle. It shimmy all over the road.
Loose or worn suspension and steering components can cause a wobble or shaking in the steering wheel. It may happen at a certain speed and subside as the vehicle accelerates...
I've had this Jeep for almost a year and a half. Last year the steering wheel would shake around 40mph. It stopped for awhile and then did it off and on every once in awhile. Now it's doing it agai...
I replaced steering stabilizer, front track bar, both sway bar links and rotated tires . Still have the same problem. Thank - you Tim
jeep drive good but at 45 mph it shakes really bad had the tires rebalanced didnt fix it, just wondering what could be the trouble
