I had the same steering column lock message. A member of our Corvette club told me to buy a bypass switch. I purchased and installed the bypass switch from Corvettes of Houston ($50), problem solved. The only recourse with this fix is the steering column will not lock, hence no anti-theft posture.

When starting off in 1st gear engine stalls out. Dealer replaced Column Locl Assembly Kit and Remote Reciever Assembly at a cost of $634. Two months later the same problem happened again. Dealer now says
the whole Steering column needs replacing at a cost of $625. My bet is that this also is a guess at what the problem is and I will have to have it towed again for them to take another guess at the problem all at my expense.Scott Stone
