1997 Saturn SW2 wagon 1.9L DOHC. The service engine soon light comes on in wet and damp weather. Recently the rear window defogger also will not function in damp or wet weather. Dealerships all around me have been closing. I found a defoggger switch in a salvage yard. Same results. Any ideas how to fix this? Thanks in advance.

In order to find out why your service engine soon (check engine) light is coming on, fault codes from the powertrain control module will need to be read, and diagnosed. Any repairs necessary should be completed and the fault codes cleared. For more information on your service engine soon light please look over this repairpal article: http://repairpal.com/check-engine-light. As far as the rear defogger goes, most common faults are related to the wires connecting the tail gate to the body. The defogger circuits should be inspected completely to isolate the fault.
