service engine soon on 2001 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

MIL on dash lit up recently and gauges OK Tried scan from parts store and got no reading.Was told it was fuse,next scan cannot read any code.Must I check EVERY fuse ?

Many times the MIL will come on with no change in performance. The ability for these systems to detect a problem before it becomes a problem is really good, but you should have the codes checked so as not to make the problem worse.
