2000 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

Question: service 4wd light comes on intermidently

Question

Visitor, 5.3L V8, Williamsburg, OH, December 30, 2010, 17:50

was diagnosed and told the 4wd mode switch was faulty. It does shift to 4wd and works properly what i need to know is that the switch in the dash that changes the modes itself

    yes, the 4wd mode switch is the one on the dash it controls the transfer case shift motor.
