Question: Serpetine Belt tensioner.

 Rookie

Noticed that the Belt slips a bit to the right on the tensioner itself once the engine is turned on. Assuming that it is aligning itself automatically... In addition, noticed that the pulley surface is smooth...Is that normal? Greatly appreciate any info....

    This sounds normal. The belt will move side to side a bit as the engine is running, and the pulley is normally smooth. Are you having problems with the belt or just observing?

    Thats what i thought. No issues with the belt so far ;). Thanks much for taking the time to respond.

    It could also be if your power steering was leaking it could have been falling on the Belt.

  • Why does a serpetine belt keep coming off.
    The origanial belt was replaced a few years ago, then all of a sudden the belt came off. Replaced it with a new belt and it will not stay on. Could it be the auto tensioner is worn out?
