Question: Selecting durable starter

Question

Visitor, 3.0L V6, Tracy, CA, January 09, 2011, 20:26

Is there a difference in reliability between a OEM and an after-market starter? Also, prices vary for starters. Is a more expensive starter better than a lower price? Could you recommend a starter.

In my professional opinion yes there is, generally an oem starter will last longer but the extra money doesn't make it worth while to myself. You can generally get a lifetime warranty on starters from most auto parts houses so the life of the car you may replace 2 starters maybe 3 but your only having to pay for one but keep that receipt.Try Napa, or Advance and definitely price shop.

Get the Denso for your Lexus. We use OE then OEM. Your not saving any money when you have to replace it again within the year. Remanufactured units are at least completely disassembled and then reassembled within specific tolerances.

Agree with both answers a company called Worldpac probably distribute parts to repair shops in your area, they carry Denso starters which are original Lexus equipment,
