Seat belt lock-up on 1992 Acura Legend

I was recently in traffic when the person in front of me suddenly slammed on his brakes, forcing me to do the same. Even though I did not hit him and no one hit me (no physical damage to the vehicle), the airbags deployed and the seat belts locked up. Now, I am unable to deploy either of the front-seat seat belts. How can I "release" these so that they are useable again?

Its strange that the airbags deployed without physical contact to the impact sensors. The seat belts how ever can auto tension prior to impact (even without impact on many vehicles). We recently replaced seat belts on an Acura around your year at my work place, I know they were not in expensive but they are a safety item and are not serviceable in any way due to huge liability.
