I noticed that the spring in my seat belt on the driver's side isn't working. If I push down on the button it does not pop back up. My seat belt is not currently in the harness so I dont have the issue of it currently being stuck, but I know that if I put the belt in I wouldn't be able to pop it out later. Can the spring be replaced or is it better to get another seat belt unit (the part that where the button is)? I was also wondering if there was a basic estimate for these parts (just to keep in mind if I need to shop around) and if this is something I can do myself or should take to mechanic or Toyota dealer?

The part of the seat belt where the release button is on your 2000 Toyota Corolla is called the "buckle" This is the very short section which attaches directly to the car body or seat frame. If you see where the buckle attaches take a look at the fastener which secures it - often time special tools are required to remove them. If you don't have the tool you may not be able to do it yourself. You may try checking with your local Toyota dealer - some manufactures have extended warranties on their seat belts.
