2005 Honda Odyssey

 

Question: Seal at the rear engine leaks

 Rookie

I have 96,000 miles on the van and this is the second time a leaks has occur. This does not seem to be normal occurance. The cost to repair is over a thousand dollars. Please advise.

    What seal was previously replaced the crankshaft rear seal or the transmission input seal? Both should have been replaced at the same time to prevent having to remove the transmission again to replace either seal. Seals are cheap it is the labor that is the primary cost. About 10 hours labor to remove and reinstall transmission alone.
