Question: s3 blinks then won't start

sometimes when it's hot outside or the car has been on a few short trips it won't start and the s3 light blinks, i've been stranded for almost an hour messing with the shift release buttons and turning it on and off, on numerous occasions.

    Although there are many potential causes of this type of problem, and it is always best to have an experienced technician perform an accurate diagnosis, there is a very common issue on these cars that is almost always the cause of the symptoms that you have described. The fuel pump is controlled by the PGM-FI main relay. The main relay is a very common failure and if the vehicle is parked in the sun, it can cause the relay to fail. The relay is located under the driver's side of the dash. Use a wire diagram and verify the inputs and relay operation.
