Rpm's running in the red on 1996 Mazda Protege

When I turn on the car the rpm's go all the way into the red.

Sounds like the throttle is sticking, Probably should have it towed to a shop because the red area means that it revving too high and could blow the engine or cause a accident if it sticks while driving. You can find a shop here www.repairpal.com/directory
