my grandsons car runs about 2700rpm at 60mph. Should there be an overdrive button?

On a Volkwagen Jetta, there is NO overdrive button that I know of, however, if the trans fluid is old, say older than 90k, it can cause the trans to stay in a lower gear and not upshift correctly. If this applies, I would replace the filter and fluid. ( It is expensive because the fluid is a factory only oil, say $300-350 for fluid, filter and labor ) This "Lifetime Transmission Fluid' is nonsense. I rebuilt auto and manual transmissions for a living at dealerships and sooner or later the fluid breaks down, even in a Mercedes.
