 Rookie

rpm goes up and down from 700 to 300 then sometimes shuts off when stopped at light but this only happens when the car is at warm temp. what could it be throttle body needs cleaning maybe

    You may be correct, the throttle body may need cleaning. You may also have an engine vacuum leak at the rubber boot which connects the throttle body housing to the intake manifold. Take care when cleaning the throttle body - keep as little cleaner as possible from getting into the intake manifold. If you have never done this before you may need help from a qualifed technician.

    Check the throttle positioning sensor. When this start to fail you get eradicable rpm movement and stalling.

    i had the same problem ..... only thing you need to do is call a junk yard and ask them if they have an: EGR VALVE

    If the car is hard to start after it cuts off you will need to replace both crank shaft position sensors. please see the TSB on the sensors. There is an upper and lower sensor (do not mix them up) this affects 2000-2002 years as best I can recall. The car will some times stall as you pull up to a light and also some times while you are sitting at the light. This will also correct an ocasionaly rough running engine on start up. We have had 2 that have had this problem. MC
