2006 Ford Taurus Q&A
2006 Ford Taurus Question: RPM levels
I brought my 06 Ford Taurus three years ago and haven't had any problems with the car. I noticed that the RPM level is at 1000, which I was under the impression that it was suppose to be below that, can you tell me if this is an alert for me to keep my eyes open? - Ms. Ford
The idle speed should be 650-750 RPM. Your idle air control valve (IACV) could be playing up. They can sometimes be cleaned. If your check engine light were on I would say have your car scanned as various emission faults can cause an increased idle speed. Kragen or Autozone stores offer free use of their scan tools. - spyder
