Honest advice and everything done with integrity, as far as I can tell.
I have continually taken my vehicles into Ron's for routine oil changes, and the service so far has been great. I appreciate the fact I can pay over the phone and drop off/pick up my vehicle outside of business hours. This works incredibly well with my schedule. I have also utilized the ride service, which was awesome! The people are friendly, prompt, and easy to communicate with.
Work done was quality, however it seemed a little expensive.
nice people and doing good reliable work, at a fair cost...
I enjoyed my experience w/ Ron's and would recommend it to everyone! I won't be going anywhere else in Ames for my car repairs.
I received a call to pick up my car and was given a price, but I had to ask what was found and what was done regarding the test performed. Nothing else was explained to me before I left. A couple of days later, I received an email while I was out-of-town saying in all capital letters that a bearing in the drivetrain was bad. I took it into a local shop that day, and found out that my car was so dangerous to drive that I had two options: get it fixed or get a new car. This was never told to me on the phone or in person--only by email. By the time I got my car into the local shop, one bearing was completely broken, and the other was falling apart from taking all of the weight of the car--leaving me stranded an hour and a half away until I could get a ride back to Ames, as it will take a full week to get a new drivetrain to that shop. It worries me that something with such potentially disastrous consequences was only mentioned in an email and with no clear impression of the severity or importance of the repair needed.
The shop is nice, convenient (especially the shuttle), and knowledgeable. The price seems high for the work and time taken to complete tasks, but that might be an industry thing. My biggest gripe is that they're quick to push simple and expensive jobs (slightly worn brakes, transmission lines) but fail to mention why there's a heavy thump in the suspension or that there was a misfire code pending. Overall, I will continue going through them due to the convenience, but am not 100% sold on their service.
They send a text message that has an interactive link about suggested repairs. That's so cool!
As Good as it Gets.
Fixed my truck fast and were very knowledgeable about the repair needed.
very satisfied with how quickly the car was fixed once the part arrived. Got it back a day early which was good because it was going to storm the next day. Still have a couple things to fix but the main problem was rather expensive due to the part.(catalytic converter)
Terrific job! I will be returning to Ron's Auto Repair Center for all future maintenance and repairs!
I got ripped off of an easy fix. I'll never use this shop again and never recommend it to anyone.
Setting up service was very easy using the online tool. They gave me a ride to campus when I dropped my car off and picked me up after work when the car was finished. I was confident in what I knew needed replacing (serpentine belt), but was half expecting to be told a laundry list of other more expensive repairs were necessary. Happily that wasn't the case. Confirmed my suspicion and noted that a related part (tension-er) wasn't 100% but didn't say it needed to be done right away - had them do it anyway. The final bill came in a few dollars below the estimate I was given. May not be the cheapest place in town, but I've always been treated well and fairly. No complaints, and I'll be back. Thanks!
I had a tail light out and some work under my car to repair. The tail light is still out even though I paid to get it fixed.
Fair, honest, did not speak over my head or try to sell me things not required.
I like it.
Staff friendly, Work was done well.
The job was done well.
I like that they provide a ride to and from work while they have your car.
I am new to Ames and appreciated the hard work Ron's auto repair center put into making me feel welcome. I will definitely be returning.
I was not called while the vehicle was being looked at, resulting in an up charge for unnecessary fluids. My vehicle died while driving immediately after picking it up from Ron's. I called about the vehicle dying and whoever answered the phone did not care and/or provide any insight into why my vehicle died immediately after picking it up.
As usual, the shop always makes sure that I am safe in my car on the road.
The guys came out and looked at my car the day prior to see if they could spot diagnose, and I brought it in the next day for repairs. Everything was fine and nothing was needed, and they didn't charge me for any unneeded fixes or work. Great shop.
Ron's Auto Repair Center worked with me and my schedule to get my car up and running smoothly over Christmas. Thank you so much!
I've been really pleased with my service here in the past, so I was a little disappointed that I had to take my vehicle in twice this time. However, everything is working well now!
Very good service. I really trust these repair shop and highly recommend it.
They do excellent work keeping our vehicles up and running.
Customer service was great! I will return for all my car repair needs!
Thank you! You all are by far a better experience than any other mechanic I have had in Ames.
I trust the work they do.
Great experience! Very courteous.
Adam and the guys are great! Very good work on time and within my budget. I appreciate them being honest about my car repairs.
Good work. Kept me informed of problems encountered during repair.
They identified the problem and fixed it quickly. They tried to salvage a hose, but could not; they called to let me know about the added cost before proceeding. They identified another issue, but did not pressure me in any way to do the work. I trust them and they competed the work very quickly.
The service was prompt and the price reasonable.
My last experience was an oil change and it was good.
Good service however pricey.
My experience was quick and easy, and I would recommend it.
Always friendly, prompt, and they explain everything. Most importantly, I always feel like my car was actually fixed.
Very fast service.
There is as always, friendly staff. They found an issue with a brake line that they repaired earlier this year and fixed it for free. Quick service, provided info about repair details and I feel like they listen when I explain what is going wrong. We take three vehicles there for service and I recommend them to friends.
As far as I can tell, everything was accomplished as quoted.
Good job! Very friendly.
Great experience, issue resolved very quickly.
2nd experience was that I stopped by the shop around 4:30. I had just found out that I had too much oil in my car. Richard got my car right in and drained some oil for me. I appreciated that he did that so close to closing. Richard and Lisa and employees are nice and care about doing right.
No complaints. Adam was honest and straight forward in trying to resolve the problem.
Great work, always reasonable with price.
Prompt, reliable service at reasonable price. And they dropped me off at work & picked me up. :)
Ron's does a great job of keeping you informed of the progress on your car while it is being diagnosed and fixed.
Fast and easy and helpful.
They are good.
They are good.
Adam and the tech did a great job sorting out the issue with my vehicle!
Everyone was courteous, but I had new tires put on my vehicle and one was severely under-inflated (roughly 10 psi).
I discovered a coolant leak on my Civic on a Sunday afternoon and showed up unannounced at Ron's Auto Monday 8am. They gave me a ride to work, diagnosed the issue (water pump), and got the new part in and replaced by noon the next day. Great customer service at a reasonable price! They have been my go-to shop for several years now, and I've no plans to change.
I think it is very expensive, more expensive than other stores. But because the store mailed us coupons, the price would be similar to others shops. However, if I ask a maintenance service, they suggested things that are unnecessary, for example, to replace the air filter. When I opened by myself, it was very clean, which seemed like want to ear money from nothing. Oil change is more expensive from other stores.
They were thorough with a complicated problem.
They were very friendly and helpful. My car got fixed quickly and well.
Helpful but too expensive for me. Worked around my schedule.
They are very polite and do good work, but they are a little expensive.
Good prices and honest service.
They are efficient at scheduling. They say what they will do and do it. They explain repairs. They show me, not just tell me, what needs to be done.
I was perfectly satisfied with the service.
They will explain to me what is wrong with my car.
I have had my vehicles serviced there for many years. Their mechanics are quite competent and straght forward with me regarding any of my questions.
Pricing is a bit high.
They are very responsible. I took my car into get tires and they did what I needed.
Very professional, fair price.
They were very careful. I liked the way they explained what they were going to do and did not make me feel stupid.
They have always been very prompt with their work. They're always fair with their quotes. The quote they give you is what you pay and if it changes they call and let you know.
He's honest, he's knowledgeable, and he's fair. I can't say enough good things about this guy.
While they may cost a little more than other places in town, they are honest and work efficiently to get the job done correctly and in a timely manner
History of doing great work and being very good at explaining what could be done vs what really needed to be done - I do not feel like they are trying to sell us services but honestly explaining the current state and options.
They were fair. Didn't go above and beyond my expectations, but they also didn't disappoint or try to cheat me.
They seem honest and straight-forward, two of the most important things for me.
Friendly service, efficient, takes good care of my car, reasonable costs, helpful.
I asked the owner to check my spark plugs as my car was idling roughly. After his mechanic checked it out, he informed me that my spark plugs were worn and needed to be replaced at a high price. I told him I couldn't afford his price. I then asked my friend to check out my car's spark plugs. He removed one, took it in to a local parts store where they took off a new spark plug and compared it to mine. Mine was not shot. Far from shot. I believe that Ron's Auto Repair lead me wrong.
They have always been nice, helpful, and accommodating. They fix the problem the first time and give me explanations as to whats wrong/how they're going to fix it. And they don't jack up the prices like I've seen other places do.
I feel that the management and crew at Ron's are both competent and honest... more of both, than most shops I'm acquainted with.
