I went to get the xenon bulb on the right side replaced since it's been coming on and off intermittently for the last few months. But the new replacement went out right on the spot, and the tech said that the whole thing has to be replaced. I asked if I can get the old bulb placed back since, at least, it was working for extended periods of time before going off. I was quoted about $500 (labor included) to replace the module and am wondering if this is really needed. Thanks for the input.

you say to the tech: "are you sure this will fix the light? i won't pay you to guess at the fix". In all the xenon lights I've seen, it is almost never a bulb. Usually the ballast or in some BMW's, it's the whole headlight. Confirm that this is a new part...you already
    have a used one :)
