Resetting a warning light on 2005 Ford Mustang

After a fill up, the gas cap was not secured correctly. Now the filler cap warning light is on. How can it be reset? Thanks, Mike

You can call a dealer or other repair shops to see if they will do a courtesy rest at no charge. Otherwise keep driving it, as long as you do not forget secure the gas cap again, the warning will go out on its' own.It may take a few trips for the engine control module to see that it was a one time occurence and once certain criteria are met it will reset the warning. Thanks for your question.
