Question: reset oil change light

 Rookie

how do i reset the oil change service light after i changed the oil filter & replaced the 8.5 qt.s of synthetic oil ?

    You need a re-set tool or pay a shop to do it.

    Turn your ignition key to the accessory position when the lights and radio come on (before starting the car). Press and hold the "Trip" button on the instrument panel until the red light comes on. Press the "Trip" button a second time and hold until "Reset" appears. Press the "Trip" button a third time. The computer is now reset.

    Your instructions worked. I bought the OBD2 tool on Ebay and it did not work so it prompted me to search on the internet for a solution. Good thing I found yours. Thanks.
    I have a 2002 BMW 745.

    turn the car on and hold down the trip button until theservice things come on then push until oil light comes up press until option to reset pops up
