At 48,000 miles I am in need of a brake job. The dealer suggests resurfacing the rotors whereas a trusted auto repair garage strongly urges rotor replacement. Since it will cost approx. $300 more to replace the rotors is that expenditure worth it?

in my eyes yes. the thinner the rotors, the less heat dissapation and the brakes wear out faster. I reccomend them on every job we do for that reason.
