2003 Cadillac CTS Q&A

2003 Cadillac CTS Question: Replacing Timing Belt

Our 2003 CTS has 139K miles. Cadillac rec's are for replacment at 100k for timing belt. This is pretty expensive sugery...how necessary is this and are there any telltale signs prior to failure? Thanks! -

This is absolutely needed. The first symptom is a destroyed engine when the belt fails and the pistons hit and break the valves. Your CTS engine is actually a SAAB V6 and is not really that great of a motor, which is why SAAB dealerships are very scarce, if not gone. -

all of these will be done at the same time. what is a fair price i should pay?
the engine sounds like the valves are pecking, car was towed to the dealership, they said that the bad sensor would not cause the pecking, and suggested a new engine. please help Gary
