Question: Replacing the emissions pump on the top of the engine

The bearing and pulley sheared off of my 1999 4.3 liter clk 430. And I need to find and install a new one..can the carun without this? anyone know where to obtain one cheaply?

    You can't safely drive the car with that kind of problem. You may be able to find a used one at an auto parts recycler (junkyard) if you don't think your Mercedes is worth a new one...

    i know of no reason you could not operate the vehicle w/out an air pump as this parts only function is sending air into the catalytic converter for reduced emissions other than the check engine light is on so you will have no way of knowing if another problem arises. o.e. pump is about 420.00 installed
