I just had my break pads replaced and now now when I apply the brakes I get a bad shimmey especially at high speeds, (like when slowing down to exit a freeway. Rotors are a bit scarred. will that solve the problem?

Most likely the front rotors of your 1997 Ford Taurus a warped and will require resurfacing or replacing.

Yes, The rotors are warped. Either they did not tighen the wheel to the right foot pounds or they did not turn the rotors very well. But if you slam on brakes at a high rate of speed you can warp them like that to. Or if they were to thin they can warp easy.
