replacing fuel pump on 2005 Lincoln Navigator

A replacing fuel pump,putting fuse back in, connecting battery cables, lowering the car. Try to start vehicle it does not reconize that a new pump has been installed. Connected computer to check for the problem, does not show any codes and did a reset. Still not turning pump on. ????? Any ideas?

computer does not need to know about replacement. did you check the inertia switch?? look for the button on the top to be pushed in to set. how did you determine the pump was bad to start?? Roy
