Question: Replacement Window Regulator and motor won't work

I purchased a used working supposedly compatible part (window regulator and motor) twice now and mechanic has installed both parts and can't get module to talk to the car. Can you help me help him? He said first part was defective. Now he is not saying that since the second part is doing the same thing. If you can't help can you tell me what part number i need for a 2006 vw jetta gli - 2.0 l sedan regulator and window motor. My car has been in the shop for 10 days now. :(

    IS THERE PWR TO THE SWITCH 1ST AND DOES PWR GO TO WINDOW MOTOR PLUG WHEN SWITCH IS TURNED ON

    Mechanic says yes, but the module won't talk to the onboard computer. He says he hooks up Vw computer and can control windows but not with the new part. yes. tech says yes power to both and he gets a click only. Thanks for helping.

    Update: you were right. No voltage was running to the unit. Inside the door harness was a crimped wire. Yay!! you help me get my car back!!!!! Thank you
