2006 Toyota Avalon Question: replacement of navigation control assy

My navigation control button no longer works after only 4 years of use. I can not input addresses or change the time on my clock. The dealers cost to replace the control button system is $1,109.62. Has anyone had similar problems and cost estimates? Has any one gotten a repair of this system for less money?

I have heard other people say they had a similar problem requiring the Navigation display assembly to be replaced. I wonder if anyone reconditions them. Perhaps call
