Replacement Key on 1998 Mercedes-Benz E430

I broke my only key to my car and need a new replacement one. I called the Mercedes Benz dealer and was told I need to order it from Germany. Do you know how much this is going to cost?

Volkswagen do the same thing about ordering keys from Germany, and the key and barrel assembly was expensive. I don't know if there are any really good locksmiths in your area locksmiths in my area can take apart the lock, remove it from the car and cut a key and may be a cheaper than a dealer.

this is not a mechanical key; it is electronic. expect to pay $200 and it will take 3-4 days. it comes from Montvale, NJ, and not Germany. this is the only choice you have as nothing else will start the car. ever.
