Question: Replaceing inner tie rod end.

Rookie

I have slack in an inner tie rod end. The mechanic says it will be an expensive repair doe to the the inner TRD not being able to be removed from the rack and pinion. I will have to buy the whole rack and pinion and TRD together. I have never heard of this before. I see that I can buy the parts seperately. Am I missing something here?

you may want to visit another shop. the inner tie rod end is 59 and pays 1 hour to replace. add an alignment for 79.
i got this from alldata and from experience.

Thanks for they help. I am getting it repaired today. I brought it to another shop and they said that the inner tie rod end was fully serviceable.

Agree with Roy. There is a special tool made by a company called Lisle used to remove inner tie rod ends.
