2002 Toyota 4Runner Question: replaced starter in 4runner - and it still won't crank or start (batt good)

4runner would not start, 2 'mechanical' guys said it was starter (cause batt good) - so replaced starter & it still wont start - help

    Try moving shifter while holding key to the start position. May be park neutral switch.

    how would you do this>? ig goes p.r.n.d.2. thats from top down. would you go from neutral to park while turning the key or what? park to neutral? i wanna try this but dont want my truck lunging forward and running down my friend. haha

    It has brakes dont it, hold the pedal down! I have told you what your problem is already but obviously that did not sink in...!
