Question: Replaced Hissing Brake Booster, now pedal goes all the way to floorboard

Rookie

When driving in town, there is a hissing noise after letting off the brake. Replaced Brake Booster with remanufactured Brake Booster. Upon picking up vehicle, the brake pedal goes all the way to floor board and it stops, but very promptly!!!! Not Normal!!! Don't know if part is bad or mechanic hooked it up incorrectl???

It would be very hard to hook something up wrong on this job to make this happen, but when humans are involved, anything's possible. This sounds like there's air in the hydraulic system. I would take it back and ask that they bleed the entire brake hydraulic system and double check their work.

Thank you so much for taking the time to reply. They said that they did that, but blame the problem on a defective remanufactured Power Brake Booster. This has really messed me up since we were planning on driving the vehicle to Dallas this coming Monday.

This is too bad. This should be covered under the parts warranty and they should fix this for you at no charge, unless you provided the part, then your on your own.

Bleed the whole system, maybe even have them bench bleed the master cyclinderand then the brake lines, and like bretb stated for the things they did it should be covered under their warranty
