1990 Mazda B2600 Question: replace headlight switch

my headlights (low beams)do not work if i pull on the highlight control it does come on i cant do this while i drive please tell me how do i replace my headlight switch

    Disconnect the battery and remove the steering wheel.
    Remove the "Lights-Hazard" indicator and the steering column shroud.
    Unplug the electrical connectors at the base of the steering column.
    Reverse the procedure to reassemble, noting position of the switch and cancelling cam.
    Remove the snapring retaining the switch and remove the turn signal cancelling cam from the shaft.
    Pull the headlight knob from it's shaft.
    Remove the retaining bolt and remove the switch.
