Report #2Visitor, 2001 GMC Savana 2500, 5.7L V8, 120,000 mi
Engine began to take longer to start. First indicator was that it went from an instant start when key was turned to several seconds. The second indicator was that it stopped all together and had to be towed. This happened in the span of days. I usually do the work myself but ran out of time and had the dealer put a new fuel pump assembly into the tank. This also fixed our fuel sender problem, as the sender and the pump are one assembly. The pump assembly is expensive at $400 for an original Delco part. The dealer tried to charge me $100 over what I could by online. They matched the online price. The engine starts as fast as it did originally and has been reliable.
