I took my car to the auto shop I've been going to for a few years and got quoted the following prices (parts plus labor)
CV boot repair ~$300
Control Arm bushing ~550
These specific repairs aren't part of the general service list here so was wondering if anyone knows if these costs seem reasonable. thanks!

$300 is the going rate for a new axle with 2 new CV joints in SF, I live and work there too. It is actually cheaper to just replace the entire axle than 1 CV joint or boot. Once the boot tears, the joint gets dirt inside of it and it is ruined. As for the bushing, they are most likely going to replace the whole control arm it self, and that part is costly. These are both common repairs for a 10 + year old Jetta. These prices are the same as my shop needs to charge to stay open.

If you just want the CV Boots replaced and the control arm bushings installed it should run about $440.00 total. If you want the axle replaced as well along with the boots add another $120.00 in parts no additional labor as it over laps. I replace axles when available usualy $250-$300 a side.
