It has to do with a spacer or washer that broke on the differential. My truck when under load or low speed sounds like gears are grinding but it has to do with this part not the clutch which is what i thought at first. I remember the mechanic made a comment that the pump had a fracture but the cause was this spacer(not sure what it is and he's not around to ask)that broke and was causing the sound. I had my truck repaired for this problem a year ago, and I'ld like to fix it myself. Thought I'ld ask here first before paying out to have it repaired.
Repair 4x4 transfer case on 1994 Dodge Ram 2500

Leave differential and transfer case repairs to a trained technician. Assembly tolerences are very critical and you will not have the proper tools to set these to specifications. BTW There is no "pump" in the differential. Here is a link to repair facilities in your area. http://repairpal.com/directory?address=94619&car_brand_names=Dodge
