Agree with Roy you have to fix the problems or the light will just keep coming on. If you have the codes retrieved and tell us what the codes are we may be able to tell you what the likely fault/s may be. There is a company that independent auto repair shops get their information from, this same information is available inexpensively for people that work on their own cars.. The information is year make and model specific, covering repair procedures, torque specifications, fluid capacities and specifications, service bulletins, component locations, wiring diagrams ect.... A generic OBD2 code reader will not work on a pre 1996 vehicle. You can do a retrival of the codes without a scan tool. Email me at jmgrhm30@gmail.com and I can email you the procedure and diagrams to do this.
