I am in the middle of a rear brake job. The passenger side came apart and went together with no problem. But the driver side rotor will not come off. The emergency brake is not depressed and I have removed the little bolt that holds it on What is holding it and how do I make it release??

Some penetrating oil, some patience, and a big hammer may come into play here. Its possible the rotor is rusted or cooroded itself to the hub and it needs some persuasion to come off. Don't worry if you damage the rotor in removing it, you're not going to reuse it anyway.

I found the elusive star wheel by looking through the lug hole that sits at about 2 o'clock. It is amazing that there is no other access to it than through the lug nut hole! I spun it both directions to no avail. Finally I swapped oun my brass hammer for a 3lb short handle sledge. That did do the trick ( thank you man). One word of caution though, once it starts to break loose turn the starwheel as far as it will go to aid in the process. The passenger side came off with no adjustments at all, I just removed the allen bolt and it was free...it's always one! :-)
