I'm giving them a minus infinity rating! Unfortunately, there's no minus stars.
Redlich Transmissions on 136 Steel Street in Youngstown is the main office, and is the same company as Redlich Transmissions on 8091 Market Street in Boardman with the same company policies.
I looked for reviews before I took my car to Redlich Transmissions. I found a review that gave them a 5 star rating. I thought since someone gave them a 5 star rating, and the Better Business Bureau's website shows that they have a A+ rating, they must be reputable. Was I ever wrong! I so regret listening to that one good review! I wish I would have seen the bad ratings at http://businessfinder.cleveland.com/7153944/Redlich-Transmissions-Youngstown-OH. It is a very painful and expensive lesson learned.
They are the kind of people you fear, the kind of people who will rip you off without having any remorse. They will give you a 90 day warranty on their work when other shops give a year and then when the repair fails after 90 days and way before a year is up, they will say it is their company policy for you to pay for the labor and they will cover the cost of the parts. But the trick is, they will price the labor for the same price that you can have the entire job done at another shop that will give you 1 year warranty. So you would be crazy to have them fix it and only have a 90 day warranty (again) when for the same price you will get a year warranty. This lets them get away with either using cheap substandard parts or employing workers that are not knowledgeable to do the job right and have no repercussion.
Actually, if the job would have failed within the 90 days, they probably would have told me the same thing. Their invoice shows "90 days or 4000 miles whichever comes first." They probably would say that they would be giving me the price of the part for free. It's the part that is warrantied, not the labor. They verbally told me that the job would last 5 years or longer so I wasn't concerned about the 90 day, 4,000 miles warranty. I trusted what they were telling me. At this point, I didn't have a reason to doubt them. The job should have lasted that long.
I feel sorry for the people who will go there and continue to be ripped off not realizing they are being ripped off because they continue to trust them. If I hadn't talked to another shop that told me this part should not have failed in the time it did with the mileage I had, that it was either a bad part or the work was not done right, and told me the cost and warranty that is standard at other shops, I could have continued to do business with them.
When I went wrong was the day I first walked in the door. After that, they got you! Don't make the same mistake. I'm telling you - you will be sorry!!!
