RepairPal Expert Overview
During certain driving conditions, the air bag sensing and diagnostic module (SDM) may activate a testing mode. If a crash were to occur during this mode, the frontal airbags and seat belt pretensioners would not deploy, increasing risk of injury to driver and front passengers.
Recall repairs on your GM vehicle must be performed by the appropriate brand dealership. GM will notify known owners of affected vehicles. If you do not receive a notification, but wish to check to see if your vehicle is included, please contact one of your local Chevrolet, Cadillac, Buick, or GMC dealerships. They will also check for any other uncompleted recalls on your vehicle. For best results, be prepared to provide your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) to the service department consultant you speak with.
If the airbag system is in a diagnostic test mode during a crash, the deployment of the frontal airbags and seat belt pretensioners will not occur. Dealers will reflash the system software. In the event the vehicle has had a previous airbag deployment, the airbag sensing and diagnostic module (SDM) will be replaced free of charge.
