RepairPal Expert Overview
Our Quick Take:
Water can enter the driver's window switch resulting in switch failure and a possible fire. This is the second Honda Fit recall for this problem as the first recall did not sufficiently address this concern.
What Should You Do?
Honda will notify Fit owners during July 2013. If you are experiencing problems with the driver's window switch, or you don't receive notification and you feel you should have, please contact your dealer for further instruction. They may ask for your vehicle identification number (VIN), so please have it handy when you call. The Honda recall number is JA6.
These Honda Fit models are being recalled a second time to correct a concern of water intrusion into the driver's power window switch that was not completely addressed by the first recall. Water entry into the switch can cause switch failure and possibly a fire. Dealers will inspect the switch, if damage is found the switch will be replaced. If no damage is found the owner will be asked to return at a later date when more replacement parts are available to have the recalled switch replaced.
