RepairPal Expert Overview

The brakes may unexpectedly become harder to apply, requiring additional force on the brake pedal to slow and stop the vehicle.

Honda will notify owners of the affected vehicles beginning July 12, 2013. If you are experiencing problems with the brake system, or you don't receive notification and you feel you should have, please contact your dealer for further instruction. They may ask for your vehicle identification number (VIN), so please have it handy when you call. The Honda recall number is JA4. The Acura recall number is JA5.

The braking system uses an assist device called a brake booster. These vehicles use a brake booster that is operated by engine vacuum and in certain cases the booster may not be able to maintain a vacuum when the brake pedal is depressed. This will result in reduced braking assistance, requiring additional force on the brake pedal to stop the vehicle. Dealers will inspect the brake booster and replace it as necessary.

Summary: American Honda Motor Co., Inc. (Honda) is recalling certain model year 2006 Acura RSX vehicles manufactured January 18, 2006, through August 12, 2006; and model year 2006-2007 Honda S2000 vehicles manufactured January 19, 2006, through November 13, 2006. The recall is expected to begin July 12, 2013. Owners may contact Honda at 1-310-783-2000. Honda's recall number is JA4. Acura's recall number is JA5.
