RepairPal Expert Overview

Vehicles with a 2.0L engine are being recalled because a fuel line may crack resulting in a fuel odor or leak.

Ford will notify owners of affected vehicles beginning September 24, 2012. If you are experiencing an abnormal fuel smell, or you don't receive notification and you feel you should have, please contact your dealer. It’s helpful to have your vehicle identification number (VIN) handy when you call.

Vehicles equipped with 2.0L engines are being recalled because the fuel line pulse damper metal housing may crack as a result of an improper manufacturing process. A cracked fuel line pulse damper housing may result in a combination of fuel odor, weepage, or a continuous leak while the fuel system is pressurized. A fuel leak in the presence of an ignition source may result in a fire. Dealers will perform the repairs necessary to correct this concern. The Ford recall number is 12S40.
