RepairPal Expert Overview
On certain vehicles equipped with an automatic transmission, the shifter can be moved out of "Park" without depressing the brake pedal.
Nissan will notify owners of affected vehicles beginning February 20, 2012. If you are experiencing problems with the automatic transmission shifter, or you don't receive notification and you feel you should have, please contact your dealer. It’s helpful to have your vehicle identification number (VIN) handy when you call.
Due to interference between the shifter rod and the shift knob, vehicles with an automatic transmission may be shifted out of "Park" without depressing the brake pedal. If the shifter is moved from the "Park" position without the brake pedal depressed, the vehicle may roll unexpectedly, increasing the risk of a crash. Dealers will replace the shift knob or shifter assembly as necessary to correct this concern.
