Wheels May Loosen on Vehicles with Central Locking Hubs
Suspension & Steering, June 9, 2011
RepairPal Expert Overview
Our Quick Take:
Vehicles with central locking wheel hubs may have their wheels loosen over time, increasing the risk of a crash.
What Should You Do?
This should be considered a high priority recall. The wheels can loosen without warning. Please contact your Porsche dealer. They will check to see if your specific vehicle is affected and advise you on what to do next. Always have your vehicle identification number (VIN) handy when you call.
Some vehicles were equipped with center locking hub and wheel assemblies. Over time, the hubs can wear prematurely. As the hubs wear, the wheels could loosen, increasing the risk of a crash. Dealers will replace the central locking wheels and hubs with an improved design. Porsche has not yet provided an owner notification schedule. The Porsche recall number is AB01.
