RepairPal Expert Overview
A problem with the fuel tank may cause the gas gauge never to read below a quarter tank of gas even when the tank might be empty. If the vehicle runs out of gas in traffic, you might become stranded or get into an accident.
We at RepairPal have designated this a high priority recall; the gas gauge may not read correctly. Please contact your Nissan dealer. They will check to see if your specific vehicle is affected and advise you on what to do next. Always have your vehicle identification number (VIN) handy when you call.
The molded fuel tank can warp, creating interference with the fuel sender float arm and fuel tank. This would cause the fuel gauge never to read below a quarter tank of fuel even if it's empty. If the vehicle runs out of gas in traffic, you might become stranded or get into an accident. Dealers will replace the fuel level sending unit with one that has a modified float arm. The recall began March 22, 2010.
