The front fuel tank support strap may fracture. It it does, the fuel tank would only supported by the rear support strap and the stone shield. Continued driving would eventually fracture the rear support strap and shield fasteners. The fuel tank separating from the vehicle could increase the risk of a crash. Dealers will install an updated fuel tank support strap. The recall began April 10, 2009. The General Motors recall number is 09048.

Potential Number of Units Affected:
GENERAL MOTORS IS RECALLING 1,738 MY 2009 HUMMER H3T VEHICLES. SOME OF THESE VEHICLES HAVE A CONDITION IN WHICH THE FUEL TANK FRONT SUPPORT STRAP MAY FRACTURE. IF THIS OCCURS, THE FUEL TANK WOULD BE SUPPORTED BY THE REAR SUPPORT STRAP AND STONE SHIELD ONLY. CONTINUED USE OF THE VEHICLE MAY EVENTUALLY FRACTURE THE REAR SUPPORT STRAP AND SHIELD FASTENERS.
THE FUEL TANK COULD SEPARATE FROM THE VEHICLE INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.
