RepairPal Expert Overview

Our Quick Take:

The latch for the liftgate may separate from the liftgate in certain severe crash conditions. If the liftgate were to open in a crash, an occupant could be ejected from the vehicle.

What Should You Do?

Please contact your Buick dealer. They will check to see if your specific vehicle is affected and advise you on what to do next. Always have your vehicle identification number (VIN) handy when you call.

Summary:

The structural support for the liftgate latch may be inadequate and could allow the latch to separate from the liftgate in certain severe crash conditions. If the liftgate were to open in a crash, an occupant could be ejected from the vehicle. Dealers will add structural reinforcements to the liftgate in the area adjoining the latch assembly.
