First thing is to check your owners manual for the wiper motor fuses and if they are fine then possibly the wiper motor has failed go to http://www.parts.com/ and put in your year, make and model and put motor in the search box, rear wiper motor about $73 and the time to remove and replace is .6 hrs, as for the door lights staying on its probably the door switch has failed and its located somewhere on the door jamb.

I just fixed the rear windshield wiper on my 2002 escape. The motor is the problem. Go to a parts store and get one (best price will be a remanufactured one). Remove the old by removing wiper arm first. Then remove outside retaining nut(mine was a 21mm deepwell socket). Remove the metal and plastic washer on the outside carefully by prying off. Open hatch glass and remove motor cover and loosen the nut and star shaped bolthead (i used a 1/4inch socket on this weird bolt head). Disconnect wire harness and use reverse procedure to install new one.
