2000 Toyota 4Runner Question: Rear Passenger Door Electric Window Off Track

Recently a back seat passenger tried to lower the electric rear passenger window on my Toyota 4 runner and we heard a loud metallic clank. I took the interior door panel off and found an 8 inch metal bar in the door cavity. The bar has a track for a roller and a slot with a rubber gasket. It also has two holes (one at each end).
I assume the roller on the arm I could see fits on the track, but I wasn't sure how to get to the window track. How do you access the window track and where do I reattach the metal track bar.

The channel you found is part of the window regulator track. You will have to detach the window regulator from the door (its secured by about 6, ten millimeter nuts including the two that secure the channel you mention. There is a company that independent auto repair shops "buy" their information from that offer a very reasonable service to do it yourselvers. You can get a one week subscription or year subscription very cheap. The information is year make and model specific repair procedures, service bulletins, component locations, wiring diagrams ect.... great quality information same as the professionals have ,much better than generic workshop manuals from parts stores, much cheaper than the factory manual try http://bit.ly/mitchell_repair_manuals_online
